In ancient times, women of all ages would gather in circle to share their wisdom gleaned through each passage, providing inspiration and support to each other while illuminating the path ahead.

We’ve lost that circle in our modern day, especially in our Western culture of individuality, jet travel that allows families to span the globe, and the breakdown of the village. And in losing this, we’ve lost vital sources of support for ourselves as we navigate the different passages of our lives.

For horses who are allowed to live in herd, this feminine insight and innate intelligence is not only shared, it is required to uphold one’s place in the circle, and to ensure the sanctity of the herd. In the wild, mares and fillies stay together for life, the weave of family being their vibrancy and their safety.

At Flag Ranch, our mares who live in herd invite you to join a circle of vibrant women to begin to re-form our village, to access our wisdom and to share our experiences. Through conversation, somatic movement, sound baths and immersion with our horses (a unique experience we offer), you will reconnect to your bodies, yourself, each other and the natural world. You will form a multispecies sisterhood to help you find wisdom and grace through times challenging and abundant.

Wisdom of the Mare will take place over four months’ time in 2024, encompassing three weekends at Flag Ranch in Paso Robles interspersed with personal practices and reconnecting sessions by Zoom.

On-site weekends: July 26 to 28, September 20 to 22, November 8 to 10, 2024.
